Monday, January 19, 2009
Garfield High School

The 27th annual region-wide Martin Luther King Jr., Celebration Committee's rally & march was a HUGE success with nearly 4,000 participants! This is a historic year and we have the unique opportunity to work toward a more justice society. It is our responsibility to push our new administration to relflect the values of Dr. King. Our work continues......

“Yes We Can: Change begins Now!”

The MLK Jr. Celebration Committee will begin planning the 2010 event in October 2009. Seattle has one of the largest annual Martin Luther King Day Celebrations in the U.S. We honor  Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., for his work toward racial equality and economic justice for all people, for his commitment to nonviolence, and for his stand against war and militarism.

"The problem of racism, the problem of economic exploitation, and the problem of war are all tied together. These are the triple evils that are interrelated."
-Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
